Kuckó lab at the Faculty of Informatics at ELTE University in Hungary is every year awaiting parents, grandparents as well as children to show-case our latest developments at Researchers’ Night, which is organised every year on the last Friday of September.

This year all our activities were around the theme of the DRONE project, which aims at creating learning materials for schools and families to strengthen resilience of adolescents against disinformation.

On this occasion we had a double scope:

• in one room children attended interesting activities, where they had to try to identify Disinformation and Cybersecurity attacks.
• meanwhile, in the other room, the aims and scope of the DRONE project was explained to parents, grandparents, as well as older teens through a presentation.

The presentation explained the concept of disinformation, its forms, how to identify, critically analyse, evaluate and make informed decisions, as well as how Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity relates to accelerating and detecting Disinformation, by explaining to caretakers, how to communicate and lead young adolescents to overcome their anxiety and be able to handle disinformation with critical lenses.

After the activities, we provided caretakers with different types of digital materials:

• A Comic booklet that presents the full theme to young adolescents. (EN / HU)
• A reading for caretakers that explains all related issues and how to have discussions with children on the episodes of the Comic book. (EN / HU)
• As the teens considered themselves to be “in-betweens”, we later created for them an adapted version to process themselves knowledgeably. (EN / HU)

We received lots of positive feedback also from different experts and updated to the final versions linked in this post.
