Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University: Proud Partner in the DRONE Project
Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University proudly serves as an associate partner in the DRONE project, a European initiative focused on developing and evaluating innovative policies to enhance school and education systems. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hellenic Open University, the project’s coordinator and scientific leader, as well as all partner organizations, for this invaluable opportunity. In these challenging times for Ukraine, the support from our European partners is deeply appreciated and profoundly meaningful.
Aligning with the Goals of the New Ukrainian School (NUS)
The DRONE project aligns seamlessly with the goals of the New Ukrainian School (NUS), a transformative reform aimed at modernizing Ukraine’s education system. The NUS emphasizes a student-centered, competency-based approach that fosters critical thinking, creativity, civic responsibility, and practical application of knowledge. By participating in the DRONE project, our university contributes to shaping well-rounded individuals who are equipped to meet the modern societal demands and European educational standards.
Comprehensive Sociological Survey Led by Elina Koliada
As part of the DRONE project, Elina Koliada, PhD in Philology and Head of the Conversational English Department, led a comprehensive sociological survey. This large-scale study engaged over 400 respondents, including secondary students, parents, teachers, and school principals. The survey provided critical insights into the needs and perspectives of stakeholders, helping to shape the project’s educational initiatives and ensuring they resonate with the community.
Educational Events to Empower Students Against Disinformation
The DRONE project also facilitated impactful educational events designed to empower secondary students with essential skills for the digital age. Elina Koliada delivered an in-person lecture at Lutsk Lyceum No. 25, introducing students to media literacy and strategies to counter disinformation. Additionally, she conducted online lectures titled “Disinformation: Your Digital Hygiene” for students at Olena Pchilka Kovel City Lyceum and Odesa Gymnasium No. 26. These sessions equipped young people with the tools to identify manipulative content, recognize disinformation, and maintain a healthy digital environment.
Acknowledging the Support of School Principals
We express our sincere gratitude to the principals who actively participate in the DRONE project: Olena Valchuk of Olena Pchilka Kovel City Lyceum, Tetiana Zhornytska of Odesa Gymnasium No. 26, and Viktor Tseiko of Lutsk Lyceum No. 25.
Celebrating Student Involvement: Volodymyr Litvinchuk’s Contributions
A special mention goes to Volodymyr Litvinchuk, a 4th-year student in the Faculty of Economics and Management, majoring in Accounting and Taxation. Volodymyr played a key role in developing and delivering the online lectures on digital literacy. His contributions highlight the importance of involving young minds in initiatives that shape the future of education.
Looking Ahead: Building a Brighter, Informed Future Together
The DRONE project represents a significant step toward modernizing education in Ukraine, fostering collaboration among European partners, and equipping secondary students with the skills they need to thrive in a complex world. Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University is honored to contribute to this mission and looks forward to continuing this transformative journey. Together, we are building a brighter, more informed future for the next generation.
